Social Startup

is an initiative of Social Startup e.V. and Prof. Dr. Heather Cameron to promote social entrepreneurial thinking and acting.

The Social StartUp Media Lab
creates a web platform with videos from and for social entrepreneurs and people interested in a critical perspective on social entrepreneurship. By putting a face to social entrepreneurial activism and providing a platform for new insights to entrepreneurship and social responsibility we make alternative perspectives on doing social business available.

Social Startup cooperates closely with Boxgirls, a social profit organization that supports women and girls using boxing programmes as a catalyst for social change in their cities.

It is aimed at:

social activists who are curious about new tools to help change the world and people interested in new technology and social change.

Our goal is to:
  • create pilot projects in social innovation
  • help shape the debate about social entrepreneurship
  • advise and consult to social pioneers
  • ask critical questions about market based solutions to social problems
  • conduct research in the area of social enterprise
We do this by:
  • offering seminars and colloquia on these themes
  • providing qualification programmes such as the ESF project creare+ in cooperation with creare! StartUp
  • capturing voices of social pioneers on video and podcast through the Social StartUp Media Lab
  • bringing like minded pioneers together for events including the Social StartUp Summer School
Social StartUp is supported by the European Social Fonds (ESF) and
co-financed through the Freie Universität Berlin.
